Das Landesamt für Bergbau, Geologie und Rohstoffe Brandenburg ist als Projektpartner im Interreg Central Europe finanzierten Projekt “Transforming abandoned wells for geothermal energy production” (TRANSGEO) beteiligt. Das Interreg Central Europe Programm wird durch Mittel des European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) finanziert. Es hat eine Laufzeit von drei Jahren bis Ende April 2026.
In TRANSGEO wird das Potenzial bereits bestehender Infrastruktur wie z. B. Bohrungen aus der Erdöl- und Erdgasindustrie zur geothermischen Nach- bzw. Weiternutzung bewertet. Regional verfügbare Potenziale werden mit den Standorten möglicher Wärme- oder Stromabnehmer abgeglichen. An der geplanten Potenzialanalyse beteiligen sich Projektpartner aus Deutschland, Kroatien, Österreich, Slowenien sowie Ungarn.
In seiner Stellung als Geologischer Dienst für Brandenburg beteiligt sich das LBGR maßgeblich an der Konzipierung projektspezifischer Datenbanken und trägt mit den am LBGR archivierten Daten zu deren Befüllung und Auswertung bei. Zusätzlich wird das LBGR bergrechtliche Fragestellungen und Rahmenbedingungen bewerten und Ergebnisse für eine sozioökonomische Analyse beitragen.
The State Office for Mining, Geology and Raw Material of Brandenburg is a project partner in the Interreg Central Europe funded project “Transforming abandoned wells for geothermal energy production” (TRANSGEO). The Interreg Central Europe Program is co-funded by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). TRANSGEO is funded for 3 years until end of April 2026.
TRANSGEO will analyze and evaluate the geothermal potential of abandoned well such as former hydrocarbon wells for their repurposing potential towards geothermal energy production. Identified potentials are compared with available heat or power consumers. Project partner from Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary and Slovenia are participating in the potential analysis.
As the State Geological Survey of Brandenburg, the LBGR is involved in designing project specific databases. Furthermore, the LBGR contributes archived data to populate the databases as well as for evaluating geothermal potentials. Additionally, the LBGR will evaluate mining law issues and contributes results for a socio-economic analysis.
